The National Athletic Equipment Reconditioners Association (NAERA) recommends that football helmets be reconditioned and recertified every two to ten years, assuming that no cracks or internal damage have occurred. Members are licensed by NOCSAE to recertify football, lacrosse, softball/baseball helmets, and face guards.
